This documentary revolved around the eruption of a technological era. The battle between Apple and Microsoft. The potential partnership. The questions of regulating the internet. The rise of mass hysteria because of the creation of the internet.

How did this start?

We all have heard about Apple and Microsoft but what made so powerful, especially today? Apple was created by Steve Jobs in 1976. Microsoft was created by Bill Gates in 1975. This competition to be the best in the technology industry never subsided. The internet exploded in the 1990’s during the .com boom. Jobs and Gates were both consumed with the possibility of the internet. Through ruthless actions both Jobs and Gates took charge of the world.

The Implications of Apple and Microsoft taking over the technological world

There are vast changes in how we view the world because of technology. This technology was started in light of the competition between Microsoft and Apple. The internet erupted — creating a sense of empowerment among users. The internet brings upon new problems. The changes in communication are evident. People use the internet to communicate, lacking a sense of human contact and interpersonal relationships. There is more dependency on the internet. Who will regulate the internet? What happens if things go wrong?

Mass Hysteria?

Does media aid in mass hysteria among society? This question is prevalent, especially today. Media circulates through the internet for everyone to see. The Y2K scare in 1999 exemplifies the extremes people will take because of any potential uncertainty. People did not know what would happen to the internet during the year change — 1999 to 2000. People will believe what they see. Whether or not it could happen does not matter. The adaption of internet in society has delivered new forms of fear or hope. The easily influenced user will trust in the internet because of its popularity and spreadability.

What will the internet bring next?
